McCormick Club Goes Apple Picking

McCormick Club members enjoyed an afternoon of apple picking as part of a health and nutrition program sponsored by Les Dames d’Escoffier, a philanthropic society of professional women leaders in the fields of food, fine beverage and hospitality. The young people will use a portion of the apples picked to bake homemade apple pies at Now We’re Cooking, a Chicago culinary center that specializes in interactive cooking classes.
"For many of our members, this was their first time outside of the city to do something as natural as picking fresh fruit," said George Colone, Club Director. "Thanks to the support of our community partners, we are pleased to show young people the benefits of healthy food and the joy of cooking something as basic as homemade apple pie with their own hands."
