Congratulations to Pedersen-McCormick Club Program Director Anita Douglas and Keystone Member Ameerat Lawal for being selected to serve on the 2014 National Keystone Conference Steering Committee. As committee members, they will help plan and organize the National Keystone Conference, April 10-13, 2014 in Anaheim, California.
Their selection as committee members is a tremendous honor that acknowledges the positive impact they have on our Keystone members and the Boys & Girls Club Movement. They both will be challenged to provide leadership, feedback and support to the conference from the initial planning session in August through the culmination of the National Keystone Conference next April.
"The Pedersen-McCormick Club is proud to have two of our very own contributing to the planning of an informative and fun conference," said Club Director George Colone.
More than 1,800 teens attend Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Keystone Conference each year. The annual conference is one of the largest, most established youth leadership conferences in the country, and the most anticipated among Boys & Girls Club teens.
The National Keystone Conference will take place as teen leadership is needed now more than ever in the U.S. Statistics show that more than 1 in 4 students fails to graduate from high school each year; 1 in 3 kids is overweight or obese; and the teen unemployment rate is at a record high. To address these and other challenges, Keystone Conference participants will discuss solutions and develop action plans for addressing the most pressing issues facing youth in their local Clubs and communities.
